Out of an abundance of caution following a COVID-19 diagnosis in our cast, we have made the decision to postpone/cancel performances the weekend of August 13-15.
If you might have attended the opening weekend performances, we urge you to take the necessary precautions to take care of yourself if you are feeling any symptoms related to COVID- 19.
If you have purchased tickets for the cancelled weekend, those tickets will be honored for the final weekends performances. But if you have purchased tickets and are unable to attend the closing weekend, please feel free to contact our reservations hotline to arrange a full refund.
Upon hearing this news, we are already taking steps to thoroughly clean and sanitize our theatre so we will be ready for your arrival. Again, we apologize to have to deliver this upsetting news, but we look forward to seeing everyone back at Genesius Guild for a production within the near future.
To reserve tickets, call our Reservation Line at 219-501-8228 and charge your tickets by a Major Credit Card or pay upon arrival at the theater.
You may also click the above button, and it will open a new window to our online ticketing service (billing on your credit card statement will say "NIETF" or "Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation")
Music and Lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM
Book by JAMES LAPINE
Orchestrations by JONATHAN TUNICK
DIRECTED BY ANDY LEAHY
MUSICAL DIRECTION BY LAURA CARNS
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, work... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later...with disastrous results.
One of Sondheim's most popular works, "Into the Woods" is a musically sophisticated show with both lighthearted moments hearkening childhood innocence and a myriad of nods to dark comedy.
"Into the Woods"
Is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
